Million March Agitators Mutilate Statues On Tank Bund

The Telangana agitators on Thursday hoisted Telangana flag after destroying the statue of historic Palanati Brahma Naidu on the Tank Bund. Some unidentified agitators also damaged some other statues on the Tank Bund during the Million March here on Thursday.


The statues of social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam and Andhra poets Tripuraneni Ramaswamy Choudary, Tallapaka Annamacharya, poetess Molla, Srikrishna Devarayalu and Errapragada were also defaced in the mob fury. The agitators dumped the statue of Srikrishna Devarayalu in the Tank. The agitators also attacked some lensemen, who were trying to shoot the vandalism. They also destroyed cameras of some channels. Some of the cameramen suffered simple injuries in the incident.Meanwhile, the Telangana Praja Front president, balladeer Gaddar condemned the destruction of the statues saying that it was not Telangana culture. He said that the agitators, who were angry at the government for trying to obstruct the Million March, destroyed the statues in a fit of ill-temper.The Telangana Political JAC convener, Prof. Kodandaram, said that destruction of the statues was unethical and unjustifiable.
